Welcome! A bit about myself: I am an advocate for quality and relevant education as well as a life-long learner. I believe a common humanity is the first step in celebrating our differences–differences that inform our cultures, values, thinking, and all our ways of ‘being’ in the world.
This portfolio consists of five educational themes that supported my development in valuable ways:
(+) Education and Equity in the United States,
(+) Theories of Learning, Culture, and Identity,
(+) Teaching and Learning in a Multicultural Society,
(+) Research and Educational Knowledge, and
(+) Personal Significance: Public Speaking to Different Audiences
Here, I share meaningful experiences that impacted my future as an educator. Sprinkled throughout my writing and multimedia projects are references and most importantly, artifacts, the products I created that resulted from my learning. There are artifacts that especially applied to the themes I learned and additional ones included for fun. You can gather a snapshot of my learning journey in the Portfolio Highlights Presentation.
Because of my growing excitement for research, I have examined:
(1) leadership/teams, (2) social-emotional development, (3) water safety education, and (4) participatory action research (PAR). I have enjoyed supporting families and youth experience learning, growth and finding their version of success both inside and outside of school so much! My development and impact wouldn’t have been possible without fortunate support from the Activities and Recreation Center (ARC), school districts, Northwest Folklife and Parks & Rec communities (Redmond, Vancouver, and Bainbridge Island).
This December, I graduate in Educational Studies (B.A.) from the University of Washington. Looking ahead to graduate school, I hope my love for learning through play will drive my work in education and public service further.
Thank you for stopping by!
